Urban Traffic Control Problem: a Game
نویسندگان
چکیده
Abstract: Traffic congestion is an issue in every major city. Many approaches have been tried. In this paper, we propose to model signalized intersections as finite controlled Markov chains. The intersection represents a noncooperative game where each player try to minimize its queue, so ǫ−Nash’s equilibrium is the solution. This paper is focused on the traffic light control problem for urban traffic, using Game Theory and Extraproximal Method for its realization. The examples show the effectiveness of the suggested approach.

Optimal Signal Control in Urban Road Networks with High Priority Congested Centers
Keeping the density of traffic flow and air pollution in an acceptable level and developing a good capacity for transit in the high priority areas of the city, is really a big deal in large and crowded cities. To address this problem, a new method of intersection signal optimization is presented in this paper. Based on network fundamental diagrams, an Internal–External Traffic Metering Strategy...
متن کاملBuilding a Software Simulator for Urban Traffic Systems
In recent years, many emerging problems with urban transportation system, including traffic congestion, have been direct results of the steadily increasing number of commuters in urban areas. To address these problems, many research projects have studied the behaviors of urban traffic systems, and researchers have proposed new and innovative traffic control schemes. These studies require accura...
متن کاملTraffic Control Through Traffic Lights Management: A Comparison Study
Traffic jams are a severe problem affecting cities around the world, and they are only getting worse as the population and number of vehicles continues to increase significantly while the area available for building roads does not. Annually, many citizens waste countless hours stuck in traffic, and the amount of time spent is expected to increase. One study calculated that in 75 different city ...
متن کاملModeling of Urban Traffic Flows Using the Concept of Multilayer Graph by Methods of Game Theory
We consider the problem of distribution of traffic flows in an urban area. We propose an optimization model, which is based on mathematical methods of the theory of hydraulic networks and the theory of games background. To find the optimal solution, we develop a model of the city as a multilayer graph. By a solution we understand the state of equilibrium in the model. Methods are used cyclic li...
متن کاملTHE PERIODIC GREEN VEHICLE ROUTING PROBLEM WITH CONSIDERING OF TIME-DEPENDENT URBAN TRAFFIC AND TIME WINDOWS
The travel times among demand points are strongly influenced by traffic in a supply chain. Due to this fact, the service times for customers are variable. For this reason, service time is often changes over a time interval in a real environment. In this paper, a time-dependent periodic green vehicle routing problem (VRP) considering the time windows for serving the customers and multiple trip i...
